George A. Vroulis, Ph.D.
Dr. George Vroulis has been in private practice since 1978. He has also served as a consultant to large employers in their employee assistance programs. In addition, he has served as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical School until 2007, when he brought his practice to Athens, Greece.
Dr. Vroulis, licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists since 1979, is well known in Houston and abroad for his work in the field of Psychology and Neuropsychology.
After graduating from the University of Houston with his Ph.D. in Psychology: Program of Biological Psychology in 1976, he continued his studies at the University of Houston in the fields of Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. He received his postdoctoral internship at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Science (currently part of the University of Texas), where he subsequently worked for 10 years.
Dr. Vroulis has had a distinguished career in the field of Behavioral Sciences, serving as Director of Adult Neuropsychology, Laboratory, in the Division of Biological Psychiatry, at Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences (TRIMS), and lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Houston.
Dr. Vroulis has been a member of the honor societies of the University of Houston, American Psychological Association, American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, World Mental Health Federation, Houston Neuropsychological Society in the EAPA, USA, and Greece. He is currently a member of the Houston Neuropsychological Society.
Dr. Vroulis’ teaching responsibilities have included Theory and Applications in Clinical Neuropsychology for residents at TRIMS from 1979 until 1985. Most recently, he was teaching courses in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Indianapolis in Athens, Greece, and The London Metropolitan University in Athens, Greece from 2007 until 2009.
Dr. Vroulis has presented many workshops over the past 30 years that address a wide range of topics from Cancer Support, Staff Stress, Grief Management for terminal patients and their families, Stress and Stress Management, Alzheimer’s Disease, Anxiety, Neuropsychological testing, and adult interpersonal communications. He also evaluates the mental capacity of elderly and impaired adults.
Besides his private practice, Dr. Vroulis consults with the Houston Cancer Institute, PA, with a goal to providing special programs for patients and their families that need cancer support from dealing with the stress of a cancer diagnosis. He also helps cancer patients and their families with stress and grief management when patients are faced with terminal disease and assesses legal capacity of adults. He also is a lecturer for Manousso Mediation & ADR Services in the Elder Mediation training programs.
